JACELLE ADVIENTO

PERFORMANCE COACH

What do you specialise in at Hoops?
I’m Jacelle Adviento, a Performance Coach at HOOPS. I focus on strength & conditioning and basketball skills. I love helping athletes get faster, stronger, more explosive, and more confident on the court, and making sure the work we do actually helps them play better.

What’s one thing athletes can expect from your sessions?
A good mix of hard work and good vibes. You’ll get clear coaching, honest feedback, and a session that actually helps you improve. I like to keep things easy to talk about, too, so whether you’ve got questions or just want to chat, you’ll always feel comfortable in my sessions.

What’s your coaching style or philosophy?
I like to make training fun, challenging, and meaningful. I’ll push athletes to give their best and step out of their comfort zone, but I make sure sessions are enjoyable and motivating too. My goal is for athletes to work hard, improve, and still leave with a smile.

What’s your education/background in basketball/S&C?
Basketball has been a huge part of my life. I played rep basketball for the Hills Hornets from U14s to U18s and actually started at HOOPS as an athlete before moving into coaching. I also studied at ACU in the Bachelor of Education (Primary) program. Between playing, coaching, and my S&C development at HOOPS, I’ve learned how to train athletes safely, effectively, and in a way that translates to the court.

What do you want every athlete to walk away feeling after training with you?
I want every athlete to feel confident, proud, and like they’ve actually improved. I want them to enjoy the session, be able to use what they learned in game-like situations, and leave excited to come back for the next one.

What do you enjoy most about coaching?
Seeing athletes gain confidence in themselves and their skills. There’s nothing better than watching someone realise what they’re capable of, whether it’s getting stronger, faster, or just better at basketball.

Who's your favourite basketball player/athlete? Why?
Kobe Bryant. I admire his insane work ethic, determination, and mindset. He was always pushing to be better and never settling for less than his best. His dedication on and off the court is a big inspiration for me, both as an athlete and a coach.

What’s a fun fact or something that athletes might not expect from you?
I’m a huge matcha fan and love finding trendy food spots. If I’m not on the court or in the gym, you’ll probably find me hunting for my next favourite drink or snack!

Share your favourite motivational quote or piece of advice for athletes.
“Great things come from hard work and perseverance. No excuses.” - Kobe Bryant. I love this quote because it reminds me that consistent effort, even when it’s tough, is what really leads to results, on and off the court.
