The Hoops Academy caters to all basketball athletes to develop their athletic qualities through individualized small group strength & conditioning programs.

Our goal is to create and build the foundation of athleticism and resilience to prepare you for the short and long term demands of the game. 

The academy is an ongoing semi-private program that will build specific physical qualities based on your goals and needs. The integrated program is run by our team of qualified S&C coaches aimed to maximize your athleticism and performance. 

Our programs are catered to your player position and specific needs through our goal setting and performance testing session where we will assess you based on our 5 pillars:

 PROGRAM OUTLINE

Basketball is a highly chaotic and complex sport with a high risk of injury if an athlete does not possess basic athletic attributes. At Hoops, we know exactly how to train young basketball players to build movement literacy, strength, power, speed, agility, endurance, skill and mindset to decrease the risk of potential non-contact injuries.  

Our integrated system incorporates movement preparation, plyometrics, resistance training, speed and agility work, cardiovascular training, resilience training, nutrition and more to meet the highly anaerobic demands of basketball. 

Combining all these strategies is essential to spending more time on the court, dominating the game, and less time injured or on the bench. Our individualised approach allows the athletes to maximise their physical abilities while training specifically for the demands of their position and play style. 

All our academy athletes follow customised programs designed to meet individual goals and are based off the results they achieved on our performance testing session. Our performance testing session covers both qualitative and quantitative measures to ensure the small details of the athlete are also being considered. 

Our testing sessions covers the following areas: 

  1. BODY COMPOSITION (Height, Weight, Wing Span & Body Fat Percentage)

  2. MOVEMENT (Ankle Mobility, Active Straight Leg Raise, Overhead Squat, Deadlift, Lunge, Single Leg Balance & Stability)

  3. STRENGTH (Plank, Ad/Abductor, Maximum Push Ups & Pull Ups)

  4. POWER (Landing Stability, Force Plate Testing, Vertec Jump Testing, Broad Jump, Triple Hop, Lateral Bound)

  5. SPEED & AGILITY (10-20m Split Sprint, Lane Agility COD, Reactive Shuttle Run)

  6. ENDURANCE (Yo-Yo IRT/MAS)

Working with our team of qualified S&C coaches, a comprehensive personalized plan is created to support each player and their specific needs. After the testing has been performed, an analysis of the data is then conducted to create an athlete profile and then training begins.
